Overview:
I love skating! At the time, I owned three skateboards, and making my one was the only guiltless way I could think of getting another board. So, I sought to make a deck by compressing sheets of plywood between two wooden molds.
Process:
Cut planks of wood, glued them together, and sanded the surfaces to form two molds for the deck.
Stacked and glued layers of plywood, then sandwiched the deck between the two molds to cure in the popsicle shape
At the end of the effort, I produced a seemingly cool-looking deck, but many ripples and gaps between the layers quickly informed me that the deck would not withstand being stood on. Unfortunately, I stood on it before rounding the corners and shaping it, so it broke before I could complete it. Next time, I may attempt vacuum forming instead of compressing.
